Finally, on my way home after 2 conferences, 2 cities, 2 days, and 19 hours on ICE trains. A few random thoughts (and thank-you notes) after AWS Summit in Hamburg and SREday in Munich.
The community area in Hamburg and the informal Italian table never fail to deliver at #awssummithamburg. Thank you, Monica (for some eye-opening chats), Davide, Daniele, and the many other community members who stopped by for a chat. Kadir, I will join a meetup in Berlin soon, I promised. Dzenan, see you in Ljubljana! Dmytro, I know… I will have to add a detour to Vienna on my next trip to Trieste.
I am too old for all-nighters on an ICE, even in first class. Yes, I wish the Nightjet had not been canceled. Again. But I (almost) wrote 3 news pieces for InfoQ during the trip from Hamburg to Munich. There was a silver lining at the end. Jumping into the Isar at 7 AM was the only way I could really wake up and revise my slides. Better than a shower and with a good dose of adrenaline.
I have always enjoyed SREday events, and my first time in Munich was no exception. Thank you, Mark and Aleksandra, for having me. See you in Amsterdam! Wish I had had more time to chat with other practitioners after the talk.
Now I just hope my train makes it to Berlin on time.
