This week, it was DevOpsCon here in Berlin.

With GenAI everywhere and all the talk about agents, yesterday I was on stage with a session discussing one of the most established concepts in AWS and cloud deployments in general: Multi-AZ.

In an era where everyone talks about (or claims to be) “multi-region”, I still believe that, after many years, practitioners may not fully grasp the benefits, implications, costs, and occasional side effects of using multiple AZs.

The title of my talk? Nobody Ever Got Fired for Implementing Multi-AZ.
